Nice located in the South of France between the mountains and the sea is a picturesque town with so many incredible locations for taking photos. I created this little list of my 8 top spots for photos in Nice which will not only help create those instagrammable photos but make for an amazing walk.

What are the top spots for photos in Nice?

The Old Town and it’s cute streets

Lovely charming old town that one can get lost in wandering for hours. The town has a very relaxing vibe with small stores that sell anything from Provencal spices, cosmetics and arts. It feels as if you’re going back in time, as it’s almost identical to what it looked like three centuries ago. With it’s beautiful traditional French buildings, it’s a must see for tourists that love history and architecture. The streets are narrow, as you’d expect in an old town, and the houses are painted in beautiful pastel colors, with traditional French windows. It makes for a perfect background for your beautiful photos.

If you are interested in hiring a photographer to take some beautiful photos of you and your loved ones while in Nice please read more about my family photoshoots. I usually photograph my clients i the comfort of their own home, but I will be happy to take some beautiful photos of you in the gorgeous streets of Nice.

The Beach and the Promenade des Anglais

The sea in Nice is probably the most spectacular view you will see here. It’s incredible turquoise colour takes your breath away every time. The coast has pebbled beaches, azur waves, and hours of sunshine. Most of Nice’s beaches are located along the Promenade des Anglais, which stretches 4 miles along the Baie des Anges. On the other side of town, a rocky shoreline and deep water are fantastic for diving and a bit more privacy.

#ILOVENICE sign

The most famous place in Nice to take instagrammable photos is of course the hashtag I love Nice sign. It’s beautiful location right at the beginning of the Promenade with the view of the old town and beach is visited by many tourists. If it’s very busy there is a line to take a photo, but don’t worry, everyone will get a turn!

Castle Hill

Between the port and Old Town you will find Castle Hill and the most incredible views of Nice. Surrounded by the sea and orange roofs of the old town it’s the perfect location for your photos. At the top you have a nice park with a playground which is perfect for a little picnic. You can also walk around and go see the waterfall, an old cemetery or just take in the beautiful scenery.

The port

The port is a really beautiful spot for photos with its pastel building surrounding the azur water and all the gorgeous little fishing boats and great yachts! Not to mention Castel hill which is located just behind creating the most amazing view. It’s situated right next to the Port tram stop so the access there is very easy. There are many great restaurants and bars around for a good meal or just a quick drink.

Mont Boron

Separating Nice and Villefranche is Mont Boron, a spectacular mountain with a park, walking trails, picnic spots and many beautiful villas. One of them is owned by Elton John! You can stroll around, go running or just have a picnic with a beautiful view of Villefranche (highly recommended to go there at sunrise!) or Nice on the other side. You can rent a bike or just walk up from the Port of Nice. You can also take a bus if the hike is a bit too much for you. Check google maps for details.

Place Massena

And last but not least the most central location of Nice, between the old town and more modern part of Nice is Place Massena. It’s the beginning of Jean Medicine, the famous shopping street with Galeries Lafayette. There are 7 statues on the place which represent the 7 continents.
